Nestled in the heart of the esteemed village of Vosne-Romanée, this family estate has cultivated its passion and expertise across four generations. Its story began in the early 20th century with François Blée, who first established the domaine’s roots in this revered terroir. His son, Charles, later carried forward the legacy, expanding the vineyards while also managing prestigious estates such as Romanée-Saint-Vivant alongside his wife, Hélène.
Committed to preserving the integrity of their ancestral lands, the family employs meticulous, sustainable viticultural practices. Each vine is carefully pruned to balance yields and ensure optimal grape development, while careful leaf-thinning promotes natural ventilation, reducing the need for chemical treatments.
For over 15 years, the estate has embraced eco-conscious methods, such as mating disruption to control grapevine moths—eliminating insecticides and fostering a thriving ecosystem of beneficial insects. Herbicides are likewise avoided, with only light tillage and controlled grass cover maintaining soil vitality.
Harvests are conducted entirely by hand, with rigorous sorting directly on the vine. The grapes are then entirely destemmed before fermentation in open vats. Winemaking follows traditional methods, with temperature-controlled fermentations and aging in oak barrels for 18 months. Depending on the appellation and vintage, new oak is judiciously used, ranging between 10% and 50% to harmonize structure with the pure expression of terroir.
