The story begins in 1924, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits. At the time of his marriage, Georges Roumier settled in the village of Chambolle-Musigny, renowned for the finesse of its wines.
His in-laws entrusted him with several prized vineyard plots nestled within exceptional appellations, including Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, Musigny Grand Cru, and Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru "Les Amoureuses." With great care, Georges Roumier devoted himself to refining these vineyards. Year after year, he worked meticulously to capture the full depth and nuance of each climat. A true pioneer, he was among the first to embrace estate bottling at a time when négociants still dominated the industry.
When his son officially succeeded him in 1961, Domaine Georges Roumier had already earned its esteemed reputation. Jean-Marie Roumier carried forward this legacy and further elevated it. Two decades later, he was joined by his own son, Christophe, a trained oenologist. Together, they began bottling their entire production starting with the 1983 vintage.
Since Jean-Marie’s retirement in 1990, Christophe Roumier has continued the family’s journey alongside his sister, Delphine—a story deeply rooted in the land, where nothing matters more than expressing the purest essence of terroir.
